An Update from the Team
Shortly after our last communication in July, the owner of the Duke of York confirmed that he would share his plans with the intention of winning community support and having all the relevant approvals in place by the end of the year.
We have yet to see any plans, so we asked for an update and have been told that his year-end target was too optimistic. We have expressed disappointment and suggested Mr Stansfield should share his plans at the earliest opportunity if he hopes to gain community support.
There is also no evidence that he is meeting his commitment to ensure constant maintenance of the Duke of York.
Grindleton Parish Council are extremely concerned about the deterioration of this building in the centre of the village and, in the absence of progress, have written to Ribble Valley Borough Council requesting action to ensure maintenance of the Duke of York. Local authorities have powers to enforce maintenance of grade 2 listed buildings and those in conservation areas; both of which apply to the Duke of York. The Parish Council has also asked that the RVBC-requirement that the Duke of York car park be cleared of building materials by the end of July be enforced.
We will keep you informed of developments.
THANK YOU for your strong and continuing support – a powerful message we will continue to use to help achieve a successful outcome.
